CONCEPT

Villa Mirabilis is a small subterranean building designed to maximize views of the island’s harbor and Sikinos Island while seamlessly blending into the natural environment. The design allows residents to enjoy sea views from all areas, both indoors and outdoors, creating a private retreat.

The ground floor of the main building houses the living spaces and two spacious bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The interior design features a palette of natural wood, stones excavated from the site, and pozzolanic coatings on the walls and ceilings, evoking a sense of simplicity and luxury.

The exterior color scheme and materials are inspired by the natural landscape. The poolside flooring is covered with large slabs in earthy tones, and local stone from the excavations is reused on the facade of the residence. Additionally, large rocks from the excavation are repurposed in the landscaping. Dark frames, natural wooden pergolas, and gray cement plaster complete the exterior palette. The landscape architecture mimics the natural local vegetation, with low aromatic shrubs that are resilient to the island’s climate, softening the hard surfaces and enhancing the building’s bioclimatic properties.
